Supported Ministries of the Presbytery
Designated PGV Ministries
Designated Ministries are those organizations and entities which are supported financially by the Presbytery of Genesee Valley. Funds are provided annually by the generous mission gifts of PGV congregations. We base our criteria for funding on the three pillars of the Matthew 25 initiative our Presbytery participates in: Building Congregational Vitality, Dismantling Structural Racism, Eradicating Systemic Poverty. MLWG also maintains relationships with Designated Ministry organizations which may include but are not limited to:
Procedure for Designated Ministries of Presbytery of Genesee Valley
The Grants Working Group (GWG) recommends to Presbytery leadership how Presbytery mission funds from the annual budget will be allocated to the Designated Ministries.
Process and timing:

- June – Existing Designated Ministries are emailed a blank application for requesting money for the next calendar year. Each DM has an advocate on GWG to assist as needed.
- August – GWG meets to discuss completed applications and form a proposed budget of annual mission funding and allocations.
- Sept – Proposed budget is submitted to PGV leadership. Communications are conducted to clarify or adjust the proposed budget, and finalize by year-end.
- January – Budget is finalized. Checks are mailed monthly, quarterly or as agreed upon by DM and PGV financial administrator.
