2022 SPRING-UP Gathering at Camp Whitman

With so much Zoom going on, here’s an outdoor opportunity for our Presbytery to gather in person for mission and fun.

In September we’ve visited Stokoe Farm for Harvest Days, in February we secured a lodge at Ellison Park for Winter Fun, and now Camp Whitman is on our calendar for a Spring-Up Gathering—with the added bonus of sharing the day with our friends in the Geneva Presbytery.

This “field trip” to Camp Whitman, on the shore of beautiful Seneca Lake, is for all ages, with plenty of activities for everyone. We’ll have a chance to:

  • help open the camp for a new season
  • plant gardens
  • explore its facilities and grounds—especially helpful if you have camp-age children who are considering becoming a camper
  • make new friends
  • bird-watch
  • sit and relax with a beautiful view of Seneca Lake

It’s a bit of a trek to reach Camp Whitman from the distant corners of the Presbytery of Genesee Valley, we encourage folks to car-pool as much as possible. But it’s well worth the time and effort to make the scenic drive, especially if you have not visited before.

SCHEDULE: Come early or late, leave early or late!

  • 9 a.m. Work projects—setting up raised gardens, trail clearing, & more
  • Noon Worship & Lunch—vegetarian & gluten-free options available
  • 12:45 p.m. Organized games and activities (indoor/outdoor, depending on weather), bird-watching hike

DIRECTIONS: Camp Whitman 150 Whitman Rd, Penn Yan, NY 14527—between Geneva and Hammondsport on Route 14.

REGISTRATION: Register advance by Monday, May 9

COST: optional donation for meal—collected at event
