White Privilege Pop Quiz

October 18, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Tuesdays, September 20 – November 15, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
9-Week Discussion Group via Zoom

Based on Molly Secours’ book

Co-Convenors: Elder Sonya Kennedy and Rev. Deb Swift

No Judging | No Blaming | No Shaming
How much “privilege” do beige-skinned people enjoy in our world—even without knowing it, recognizing it, or even wanting it?
Through reading, sharing, videos, praying, candid discussions, and learning together, we CAN change the world—at least our little part of it. The first step is our own awareness.

As the author writes:

“The intent for this book is not to make people feel bad or guilty, but to shed light on the continued and persistent conflict confusion, and resentment that arises when issues of race bubble to the surface and more importantly when they don’t.”

She asks a series of questions, like:

How often are you reminded about being the race with which you identify?

1) Several times a day
2) Once a day
3) Several times a week
4) Once a month
5) Hardly ever

Unlike a pop quiz at school there are no wrong answers, only truthful ones. There is no scoring …

Please provide your own book.

Sign up by emailing Rev. Deb Swift (pastor@irondequoitpc.org) or either church office (office@southpc.org / office@irondequoitpc.org).
